Original commissioned score by Michael Wall
Costume and Lighting Design by Jeanne S. Mam-Luft
Performed by Jacquelyn Corcoran, Rachel James, Julie Mullins, & Ashley Powell
MamLuft&Co. Dance presents an excerpt of the recently-premiered Yesterday’s Wedding, created in Cincinnati. Imageries from a cup of tea for one, as well as bitter memories of a wedding guest, are used as allegories for themes of retrospection, regret, and indelible loneliness, even in the midst of physical closeness. This work was created with the artistic talents of composer Michael Wall (Columbus, OH) and creative contributions from the performers.
MamLuft&Co. Dance is a modern dance company that has recently found a new home in Cincinnati, Ohio. The mission and objectives of MamLuft&Co. Dance are to create, perform, advocate, entertain with, and engage others in modern dance. It is to do so while working with performing, visual, and design artists, thus providing opportunities for talented individuals to engage in the continuance of innovative artmaking that embraces progressive and avant garde arts. Director, Jeanne S. Mam-Luft is a choreographer, photographer, and designer of many kinds (including architectural, costume, lighting, scenic, graphic, and web). Her vision as an interdisciplinary artist brings together the talents that contribute to and comprise MamLuft&Co. Dance. Mam-Luft was born while her parents were escaping the Khmer Rouge genocide; her experiences as a refugee and an immigrant have shaped her artistic expression.
